La Muse artist residency,Carcassonne During August 2009, I spent three weeks for on a memoir. I generated 14,000 words, a series of four collages, and a cache of photographs and video for the production of a digital storytelling video project. La Muse residency in the south of France (Carcassonne-Languedoc) was the perfect blend of a pristine setting and privacy.

Thupelo artist residency,Cape Town South Africa in 1996 was still a semi-euphoric time after the "New South Africa" first free elections under President Nelson Mandela. I shared studio space with artists from around the world in Cape Town near Table Mountain. An exhibition of our works ended the residency depicted in this photo.

Making paper Under an NEA grant, Pyramid Atlantic exposed me to the beauty of handmade paper and the pulp painting technique. I came prepared with my own templates and produced an extensive series of collages.
