Clive Arrowsmith

Clive Arrowsmith is a London based , celebrated international photographer Photography became an obsession for Clive Arrowsmith while serving as a graphic designer and art director for television productions throughout England.

Unable to find a photographer to produce much-needed images to accompany his graphic designs, Clive decided to teach himself.

Fascinated by lighting, he turned to the Renaissance painters he had studied while in art school to help guide his work as a photographer. It is the chiaroscuro in painting that continues to influence his work even today.

After several well-placed commissions for Town Magazine and Nova, Arrowsmith quickly moved into shooting for high-end fashion publications like Harpers, Tatler, Vogue and F.T. Colour magazine.

Clive Arrowsmith has since become one of Britain's most revered fashion, beauty and portrait photographers.

Exploring the many different genres of photography, he is now equally renowned for his still lives, landscapes and his work on record sleeves and music videos.

Over the years, he has worked with such artists as Def Lepperd, Chthonic, Art Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, Boz Scaggs, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Kate Bush, Wings, Jamirequi, Lee Griffiths and others.

He is the only photographer to have been commissioned to photograph the Pirelli Calendar for two years in succession.

Featured Art Work

Nina Kortova NIna Kortova was a pupil of Rosapovitch the great Russian cellist, a friend of mine saw her in concert in London, photograph her, I rang her agent, she agreed. In the studio I had my stylist get a selection of beautiful flowing gowns, i needed these to flow in the wind, giving a visual feeling to the deep resonant music coming from her cello as she played for me,she chose the red dress, even with the sound of the howling wind machine blowing wildly, the amazing music, and wind blended into a furious symphony.
