Don Drakedon@donalddrakeart.comwww.donalddrakeart.comDon Drake is an artist living and working in Portland, Maine. He has been a portrait artist for 30 years. He painted the posthumous portrait of L.L. Bean for the L.L. Bean Company in Freeport, Maine, Marvin Sadik the former director of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., Mrs. A.G. Monks for Robert Monks, as well as the likeness of the late philanthropist Elizabeth Noyce for her private collection. Don has painted portraits of children throughout the Northeast as well as Europe. He provided court room artwork for NBC, CBS, and ABC in Portland, Boston, and for the Nightly News with Tom Brokaw. He was the Honorable Award Recipient at the 1981 Portrait Painter’s Seminar in New York City. In addition to portraits, Don now executes Maine landscapes in oils and pastels. He was selected to exhibit in the prestigious Art Salon Juried show 2006 Winter Exhibition. He is a member of the Pastel Painters of Maine and was selected for their Annual International Exhibition in 2006 and was recently an Honorable Award recipient at their exhibition at Bowdoin College. Institutions and private collections that own Don’s works include T.D. Bank North; St. Joseph’s College in Windham, Andover College in Portland, Mercy Hospital in Portland and the Elizabeth Noyce Collection. Don had a late call in life to ministry and currently is the Senior Pastor of the Stroudwater Baptist Church in Portland, Maine. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts and a Master of Fine Arts from the American University in Washington, D.C.
