Pol Ledent was born in 1952 in Belgium (Wallonie, french speaking part of Belgium). He came to painting in 1989. He started with watercolor but felt rapidly that oil painting would make him progress more effecient in his search for light.
After a few years, because he was disappointed by the fact that he didn't succeed in painting good watercolors, he went to work again. And then, it came as a revelation, he found his personal way of painting watercolors. He is a self-taught painter.
Nevertheless he took some drawing lessons in a Belgian academy.
After taking part into numerous group exhibitions , some galleries in Belgium proposed to him to exhibit his works.
Dinant, Bouillon, Brussels , Paris and Moscow in October 2006.
He has already sent many paintings to various countries : the USA New-York
(Buffalo, Broadway, park Avenue) ) , Santa Cruz,San Diego, San Jose,Los Angeles, Miami, Baton-Rouge Virginia Beach,Seattle, Grand Blanc (MI),to Canada, to France,to China, to Scotland, to Portugual, to Switzerland, to Australia and .........
Painting is a real vital need for him , he paints about 5 or 6 hour a day. He has just decided to leave his first job (he was a teacher) and to devote his life to painting.
Starting painting is like going through a long journey full of researches , happy findings, sometimes disappointments but in the end full of happiness.
He makes a sentence of Matisse his own : Color, much more than drawing, is a liberation.
