Painting Impressions I'm a people watcher. Gestures say more than words, don't you think? I appreciate vivid color and soulful scenes. All of my paintings are meaningful and touched with an emotional quality in some way, at least to me. Life is rich with inspiration if one uses God-given insight to see beyond the obvious - and, there is always more to see if one is willing to take the time. I've been painting in oils almost exclusively for 8 years or so. However, I've been painting in watercolor & oils as well as drawing in pen & ink for 30 years. I consider myself a plein air painter. My painting time is split between outdoors & studio work. I have also been teaching oil painting for many years.I have a BFA degree & majored in painting. My college years as an adult art student helped me understand my direction but since then, I have developed a personal path of artistic & professional growth. My chosen themes of late have mostly been rural and city landscapes, and figures. I do enjoy still life painting as well.Living in the midwest, I see the wonderful earthy textures of humanity all around - and I love it, so I paint it!
Farm Outside New Harmony Blue sky, sloping fields, old fence, this is a peaceful scene. It sure was windy that day though! Another southern Indiana farm scene, yes, but the same beauty can be found almost anywhere if you look for it. Spring exploded in this place with earthy colors of burnt sienna & gray-greens. This painting comes to you unframed.
