Robert Wiener

Colorbar Murrine Series The process of murrine art glass incorporates mosaic techniques originated over 3,000 years ago. With the discovery of blown glass around the first century BC/AD, the labor intensive mosaic process fell by the wayside. However, in the nineteenth century a revival surfaced in Murano, Italy. Robert developed his Colorbar Murrine Series by joining the hot glass technique perfected in Murano with the kilnformed, or warm glass process. All of his pieces are handmade and signed by the artist.

As a warm glass artist Robert strives to achieve individual style through personal expression with emphasis on structure and technique. The Colorbar Murrine Series affords Robert the opportunity to experiment with color and fusing temperatures, and to express a personal style that reflects simplicity with close attention to detail.

Robert has won several awards for his Colorbar Murrine Series. Highlights include the prestigious NICHE Award, the esteemed Best-in-Show Award at the Creative Craft Council Biennial Exhibition, and a finalist in the honorable E-MERGE international competition.
