brian gregory "composition, composition, composition" he thought as he grabbed his camera, peered through the view finder, framed the shot...all that could be heard was the click of the shutter...I work primarily with captured images that are then modified, manipulated and enhanced until just the right look and feel is brought out...I then amass these images into massive montages across multiple canvases in a non-linear fashion to create even grander compositions...after which I apply a variety of finishing textures and coatings to complete each piece...I continue to explore and experiment with my methods and materials in an effort to better understand the world around me...Deloitte, HFC, Manpower, Allstate, Vienna Beef, Abbott, other corporate and private collectors have commissioned my artwork...for further information, questions about my artwork or to commission a piece of your own, you can always reach me at brian@studiobrian.com......enjoy
Elevated Blues "Elevated Blues" is an original composition, an edition of one, consisting of 7 canvas panels making up the finished piece. The overall dimension of the 7 panels are 129" x 72" (10' 9" x 6'). The depth of the piece is approx 2". "Elevated Blues" is designed to hang flush against the wall for maximum aesthetics. "Elevated Blues" was inspired by the elevated rapid transit system (known locally as the CTA - Chicago Transit Authority) that defines Chicago like no other piece of architecture in the city. The downtown business district is referred to as the "Loop," aptly named for the encircling elevated structure that surrounds the center of the city. "Elevated Blues" is my interpretation from the many trips and images I've taken over the years, combined into the almost 11-foot wide abstract, photo montage you see here. This piece is a combination of digital images and manipulations of those images. Each panel is printed to canvas using archival materials and processes and is then stretched conventionally incorporating a gallery wrap format (stretching the canvas around the edges of the stretcher frame, requiring no additional framing). I then use a variety of acrylic coatings and textures to give the piece a unique finish to compliment the final work. It is now ready to hang. You can always contact me at brian@studiobrian.com for further information, questions or to inquire about the commission of an artwork.
