About This Artwork
I carry a legal pad with me to take notes at meetings. When I’m listening but not taking notes, doodling in the margins of my note pages helps me to keep focused on what’s being said. I saved these doodles because I was captivated by their repeating geometric patterns. More than ten years ago I showed these doodles to my sister-in-law and she exclaimed, “Those aren’t doodles. Those are art.” Thus began a series of art pieces based upon my note page doodles that I scanned and continue to manipulate and reproduce in a variety of ways.
For this piece I juxtaposed repeating images of a graphically simplified photo of a scallop shell my grandmother found on the beach in Naples, Florida. This shell is very unique because it is flat and smoothed by being long tumbled in the surf, yet its distinctive coloring and pattern were not faded by the sun nor worn away by the sand.
Digitally collaged image of digitally manipulated photograph and an original drawing by the artist – custom giclée print on art paper – Unframed/Unmatted – ships flat – Can be printed to your size specifications. Price varies with size. You may contact the artist at annedelain27@aol.com.
