About This Artwork
"Secret Garden" is an original composition, an edition of one, consisting of 12 canvas panels making up the finished piece. The overall dimension of the 12 panels: 290" x 58" (24'2" x 4'10"). The depth of the piece is approx 2". "Secret Garden" is designed to hang an additional 2" off the wall for maximum aesthetics. This offset from the wall creates the illusion that the artwork is floating in front of the wall. This effect is achieved by way of a custom bracketing system that I developed for this expressed purpose.
"Secret Garden" was inspired by all the gardens both formal and informal that I've came across, most times when I was out looking for something else. I combined the many images from those adventures into the more than 24-foot wide photo montage you see here.
This piece is a combination of digital images and manipulations of those images. Each panel is printed to canvas using archival materials and processes and is then stretched conventionally incorporating a gallery wrap format (stretching the canvas around the edges of the stretcher frame, requiring no additional framing). I then use a variety of coatings and textures to give the piece a unique finish to compliment the final work. It is now ready to hang.
