About This Artwork
"Extreme Blooms" is an original composition, an edition of one, consisting of 7 canvas panels making up the finished piece. The overall dimension of the 7 panels: 102" x 60" (8' 6" x 5'). The depth of the piece is approx 2". "Extreme Blooms" is designed to hang flush against the wall for maximum aesthetics.
"Extreme Blooms" was inspired by a group of flowers I stumbled upon one afternoon a few years ago. Once back in the studio I began exploring the dynamics of one particular image. I experimented with a number of effects and enhancements until I was satisfied with the almost 9-foot wide composition you see here.
This piece is a combination of digital images and manipulations of those images. Each panel is printed to canvas using archival materials and processes and is then stretched conventionally incorporating a gallery wrap format (stretching the canvas around the edges of the stretcher frame, requiring no additional framing). I then use a variety of acrylic coatings and textures to give the piece a unique finish to compliment the final work. It is now ready to hang.
