About This Artwork
Although Charlie Parker and Thelonius Monk seldom played together, I thought it fitting to include them both in the same painting.
Bird flew in a rarified air, in which his horn left haunting notes, that generations of jazz musicians looked to for inspiration.
Monk, like Bird, was concerned with growing and enriching his musical conception which came out of his life experiences, not from theory.
