About This Artwork
One of those dazzling sunsets that I love so much. This is in fact a pivotal painting when I began experimenting with very thick oils. I painted it just after the Flower and was wondering how I could capture the glare and energy in a sunset. The technique with the pallet knife has to be reasonably quick and very deliberate and I really like the result. The thickness of the paint along with the fact that I mix a lot of the colours on the canvas really add to the effect. Certainly one of my favorites.
