About This Artwork
The Trump International Hotel and Tower is a modern skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. The building was designed by architect Adrian Smith of the firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The tower is located at 401 North Wabash Street, on the north shore of the Chicago River. The skyscraper is named after real estate developer Donald Trump, and at a height of 1389 feet it was the second tallest building in the U.S. at the time of its completion in 2009. The mass of the building steps back at three separate heights as it rises from the ground. These step backs are intended to help the building relate to the heights of the neighboring buildings. Trump tower contains 2.6 million square feet of space on 92 floors. This includes retail space, a parking garage, a hotel, a restaurant and private condominiums.
