About This Artwork
My mother is an accomplished amateur horticulturist that would put many professionals to shame, her gardens spanning over eight acres of open areas, ponds, woods and marshlands. I visit my parents at least every other summer and I never tire of photographing my mother’s flowers, outdoor vignettes, and crafted environments.
In her garden, my mother is a true goddess, lording over every leaf, stem and flower. She heralds a team of gardeners who carefully listen to her detailed instructions on the art and craft of the maintenance of beauty. You can see her hand and leg in the upper right corner of this image. Even when she can’t be seen, she is always present.
