About This Artwork
Spring Awakening started out as a plein air painting at Shaw’s Nature Preserve and was completed in my studio. The word was out among my artist friends that the daffodils were blooming at Shaw Nature Preserve, and I went there planning to paint them. But once there, what really caught my eye was this distant field of new spring grass glowing through the bare trees. I felt that was the true awakening of spring and I had to paint it.
Because pastels are fragile materials all my painting are placed behind glass in quality frames. The cost of the framing is already included in the painting price. If you prefer, I will sell the pastel unframed. For unframed paintings deduct 10% from the painting cost.
