About This Artwork
Cross Section is part of Altman's "Desertscapes" Series. The deserts are home to a variety of rocks and rock formations. Many of the semi precious gems found in the desert reveal themselves once they have been cracked open. Others like turquoise and quartz can be found in rock veins. The Cross Section sculpture is an abstract expression inspired the rock gems found in the desert. Slabs of colorful glass are nested in a field of Amber and Chartreuse frit and accented with Sunset Coral stringer. The sculpture comes with a metal stand.
