About This Artwork
This picture is another one from my mother's garden in Bedford, New York. The hearty hibiscus is so elegant and unexpected. I've taken hundreds of pictures of its porcelain like pettals. Still the leaves get serious insect damage by August. I was struck by both the destruction illustrated here and the bonelike beauty of the withered blossom.
