About This Artwork
Il Fantino means the Jockey and this painting depicts the famous Palio horse race held twice a year in the Piazza Del Campo in Siena Italy. This event with all it's pomp and circumstance is an incredible array of colorful flags and enormous crowds of fanatic fans from all the competitive districts of Siena. I've tried to capture the intense excitment in this work with the abstraction of color and shape.
