Joseph Getsinger was born and raised in Camden, N.J. While serving in the US Navy, Getsinger drew cartoons for greeting cards that were sent out to the entire fleet for entertainment and morale. Upon returning to civilian life, Joseph studied under George C. Vail, who had a Wyeth-style of painting and who helped Joseph adapt his current Norman Rockwell-like style of painting.
Getsinger’s first published works were etching prints, which were huge hits and quickly sold out. Since then, Joseph has published over 225 limited edition prints, which primarily focus on historic buildings, waterfowl, landscapes and seascapes, and as his ever-popular firefighter, police and military paintings.
Over the last 30 years, Getsinger has helped to raised over one million dollars for the Burn Foundation by donating his work to a variety of burn victim fundraising events.
He is presently working on a project to paint still lifes of all the United States Armed Forces Services.
He mostly enjoys working with acrylics, but has created many pieces in oil and watercolor. Please join us is celebrating this extremely talented artist by taking a minute to browse through his gallery of work on this site.
