A Look Out My Window This is the view I see into my back yard as I approach my easel to get to work. At right is a portion of a recent painting, "Autumn Leaves," not long before shipping it off to Cape Cod.

My Collection Here you see the shelf that hangs on the back wall of my studio, filled with all kinds of things I've collected (or received) over the years. Included are soda and milk bottles, coffee percolators and cans, and "odds and ends" including a Dixie cup with the classic design of 40 years ago.

Where It All Began This is the Edward Hopper painting, "Gas," which I discovered in 1970 in a Time-Life book on realism while in seventh grade. When I saw this I stared for a long time. Nothing I had ever seen to that point had caught my attention the way this painting did. Yet it took nearly a quarter century more before I started making my own paintings. Talk about a long gestation period!
